The Top3 Celebrity Hair Implants Of The Decade So Far

This decade may yet go down in the history books as the year that hair implants beat baldness. While all of us can easily rattle off a list of celebrities who need hair implants, the past couple of years has seen a sharp rise in the number of celebs actually going through with the procedure. Celebrities suffer from male pattern baldness just like the rest of us and gain confidence from having a fuller head of hair. Here is a list of the top three celebrity hair implants of the decade so far.

#3. Gordon Ramsay
British chef Gordon Ramsay kicked off the decade with a $50,000 hair implant procedure at the Alvi Armani centre in Beverly Hills. As hair implants usually take around a year to take hold, Ramsay waited until 2011 before revealing his new hair on a new series of his L.A. show Kitchen Nightmares. Ramsay is known for having a short temper and frequently using foul language. For all of his show’s guests who remember being on the receiving end of Ramsay’s criticism, it must have seemed like karma when the anesthetic used in the hair transplant procedure caused Ramsay’s face to balloon up. Ramsay shared the news of his procedure via Twitter, sparking a new level of openness amongst celebrities.

#2. AJ McLean
Just like Gordon Ramsay, Backstreet Boy member A.J. McLean announced his hair implant procedure via social media. McLean took to Instagram to share before-and-after pictures of his procedure. At the time, McLean claimed that men had hair implants for the same reason that women go under the knife for breast implants. He felt that hair implants are a confidence-boosting procedure that men feel better after having had. McLean posted two pictures showing the back and side of his head where the hair had been transplanted to.

#1. Wayne Rooney
One of the world’s wealthiest soccer players, the reported $25,000 cost of his hair implant at a London clinic barely dented his weekly wage packet. According to an article by Natalie Evans, Rooney took the dramatic step of hair implants after his teammates started calling him ‘Bobby’, a legendary British soccer player who also became bald at a young age. Back in 2012, Rooney tweeted news of his implant procedure and even shared a photograph of his scalp.

Rooney wrote: “Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25 why not. I’m delighted with the result.” The procedure paid off the and money was well spent as Rooney now sports a full head of hair, having waited almost a year for the results to become apparent. Last year, the Huffington Post reported that respondents to a poll for Crown Clinic in Manchester named Rooney as the best celebrity implant.

According to one leading hair loss clinic in Winchester, new methods of hair implants let some men keep the procedure a secret, even from their own families. Journalist Bianca London quoted hair transplant specialist Dr Kouremada-Zioga as saying that the U-FUE hair transplant technique is ‘undetectable’ and can be carried out without creating the usual bald patch or scarring.
